SusanSzabo-BeforeAfter5In Leading an Inspired Life, Jim Rohn says “Take care of your body. It’s the only place you have to live”. I was trying, but it just wasn’t working. As the years went by, I was getting heavier and more depressed. I tried therapy (several varieties – after all it was the 70s and 80s!) and natural alternatives to Western medicine and none of it was helping. I tried Massage Therapy, Healing Touch Therapy, Naturopathy, Homeopathy, Network Chiropractic, Acupuncture and had all my silver (mercury laden) tooth fillings removed. None of them gave me long-term relief. Marrying my amazing husband and moving to Hawaii didn’t even help. I felt like a failure. Finally I gave in (and up) and saw a medical doctor and went the anti-depressant route. If you have ever been on that ride, it’s pretty interesting. You feel great for a while, but then the medication stops working as well, so they increase the dosage slowly and eventually you are at the maximum dose. Then the medication stops being effective. Then you have to wean off it for a few weeks, so you can start a new medication. This cycle went on for 9 years with 8 different medications. One of the many undesirable side effects of the anti-depressant medications was weight gain. That rollercoaster ride came to a screeching halt when I was introduced to the highest quality blend of chia seeds called Mila. I ate it daily and started losing weight and my pain started going away (perhaps I didn’t mention all the Tylenol I took). Then I weaned myself off my meds. The depression was gone. It was like coming out of a car wash when your car was all muddy. I could see, think and feel clearly. And the weight disappeared: 50 pounds of it. I am now really enjoying living in my body. I am 57 and feel stronger and happier and weigh less than I ever have before in my adult life. I plan on at least another 50 years of this. My grandmother made it to 101 years. I don’t see why I can’t top that!
